Journal Bearing Manufacturer By RA Power Solutions

Crank pin journal of Wartsila 18V32 was reported to be damaged by one of our client in Southeast Coast of Africa. RA Power Solutions team of two technicians was deputed and following were the main observations:

  • On visual inspection it was observed that  crank pin no. 2 and Crank pin nos 6 were severely scored with bearing line marks having approximate depth of 0.5 mm.
  • The hardness was observed between 30 and 50 HRC at different spots.
  • On undertaking the MPI of crankpin no. 2 and crankpin no. 6, only multiple surface cracks were observed
  • The crankpins of the crankshaft were checked for taper and ovality and maximum ovality of 0.6 mm was observed.

After the initial inspection of crankpin journal 2 and crankpin journal no. 6, the crankshaft grinding was done by latest design of onsite crankshaft grinding equipment. The crankshaft grinding equipment having the range of 260 to 300 mm was used.

Following process for crank pin journal repair was adopted.

  • Rough grinding of crankpins was undertaken
  • Radius fillet and lubricating oil hole of crankpin no. 2 and crankpin journal no. 6 of wartsila crankshaft were made.
  • Grinding to the undersize of 2 mm was to be done in order to achieve the hardness as stipulated in the manual of Wartsila under the chapter Crankshaft
  • Final polishing of crank pin no. 2 and crankpin no. 6 were done to achieve 0.3 Ra surface finish according to the Wartsila specifications.

The crankshaft after above repairs is performing satisfactory and has clocked more than 6500 hrs of operation.

We have experience of more than 4 decades in  successfully repairing of crankshaft, journal bearing manufacturer, and are considered to be priced lowest in the industry.

Metal Stitching Of Castings-RA Power Solutions

Metal stitching and metal locking process provides an excellent expansion joint for engine parts like cylinder liners, crankcase, cylinder heads which are subject to thermal and mechanical stresses. The main advantage of repair of cracks by metal stitching and metal locking process is that no stresses are developed and the alignment is maintained with original surfaces as the lack of heat produces no distortion. Repair of Crack in Cast Iron Casting - RA Power Solution

If you put ten people in a room who are familiar with auto restorations, whether they perform their work, or are professionals, when discussing the challenges of restoration, the topic of  repairing cast iron  is likely to come up. Body rebuilding or reproducing ornamental pieces during restoration are fairly common and usually can be achieved without too much difficulty. But mention a cracked or broken cast iron part and shivers are likely to resonate through your body. Cast iron, a ferrous metal containing approximately 95 percent iron with the remainder being alloyed such as silicon and carbon is often used for many vintage auto parts. It casts well into a shape, is easily machined, is ideal for high heat situations (like exhaust manifolds), and even has good compression qualities. Cast iron however doesn't do well under tension and is brittle. A repaired crack in a cast iron part using conventional brazing techniques is likely to reappear when the part is put back i...
