Metal Stitching & Metal locking of Engine Block

RA Power solutions have been undertaking repair & maintenance of heavy equipment in industries, power plants, and diesel engines installed on the vessel for the last more than 4 decades.

We have experienced that in spite of following the rigid maintenance schedule mentioned in the maintenance manual of the manufacturer serious accidents do take place breaking the casing of the engine, compressor, Heavy engineering equipment into pieces or developing multiple cracks.

RA Power Solutions recommended repair of damaged cast iorn casting, Aluminium bronze components by metal lock/metal stitching process having following advantages:

i) The main advantage of repair of damaged or cracked engine block by metal lock / metal stitching process is that it is cold method of repair and no heat is generated.

ii) No distortion in the profile or the shape of the engine block or casing takes place which is common in case the crack repair in the engine block is undertaken by welding.

iii) Metal lock/metal stitching process of crack repair can be performed on-site avoiding the high cost associated with disassembly of the equipment and transporting it to the designated workshop for repair. Metal stitching can be done in a limited space available.

iv) It is proven that the crack repair of engine block, cast iron casting, Aluminium and bronze components restore its original strength and is even successful for watertight and gas-tight repairs.

v) We have experienced that engine block repaired by metal lock/metal stitching process do not lose their profile or shape, In most of the cases engine blocks do not require any machining.

RA Power Solutions have successfully executed repair of more than three thousand crack, damaged and rejected engine blocks, compressor casing, heavy equipment etc all over the world and have saved millions of dollars for the shipping & general industries.

We strongly recommend repair of cracked or damaged components by the metal lock/metal stitching process.

The application for the repair of cracks by metal stitching and metal locking process are many and cover a broad range as following:

i) Repair of heavy equipment, large earthmoving machinery, mining equipment.

ii) Repair of Alternator casing, turbine, Turbocharger, cylinder head and all rotating equipment.

iii) Repair of the cracked or damaged engine block.

iv) Bed Plate ( crankcase repair)

We have also undertaken successfully crack repair in aluminium Piston and heavy duty cylinder liner as a temporary measure successfully & guaranteed repair of all heavy engineering components manufactured out of cast iron, aluminium or bronze.

We have been regularly undertaking repair of engine blocks, compressors, turbochargers, and all cast iron, bronze, aluminium for following makes of engines:-

Crankpin machining is required in case of following

Crankpin machining is required in case of the following damage to the crankpin. Development of excessive taper & ovality on a crankpin.  Seizure of crankpin bearing Development of bearing marks and pitting on crankpins. Due to above defects it is necessary to get the crankpin machining undertaken.  RA Power Solutions have more than 41 years of experience in undertaking machining of crankpin onsite up to 700mm. There is no requirement of removing the crankshaft from the engine block and transporting to the workshop. We have a team of experienced technicians who fly all over the world to undertake crankpin machining on site. Journal Bearing Manufacturer By RA Power Solutions

Crank pin journal  of Wartsila 18V32 was reported to be damaged by one of our client in Southeast Coast of Africa. RA Power Solutions team of two technicians was deputed and following were the main observations: On visual inspection it was observed that  crank pin no. 2 and Crank pin nos 6 were severely scored with bearing line marks having approximate depth of 0.5 mm. The hardness was observed between 30 and 50 HRC at different spots. On undertaking the MPI of crankpin no. 2 and crankpin no. 6, only multiple surface cracks were observed The crankpins of the crankshaft were checked for taper and ovality and maximum ovality of 0.6 mm was observed. After the initial inspection of crankpin journal 2 and crankpin journal no. 6, the  crankshaft grinding  was done by latest design of onsite crankshaft grinding equipment. The crankshaft grinding equipment having the range of 260 to 300 mm was used. Following process for crank pin journal repair was adopted. Rough gri...
